If you have thought of fruits as boring, then you have probably been used to the same old way of eating it. We all have to get our recommended daily servings of fruit. Have you tried chilling or freezing your fruit? If you have not, then you are missing out! You should definitely try a cool fruit now.
During summer, plenty of us crave fruits that provide refreshment. On a hot summer day, if you were offered a mango shake, would you turn it down? Of course, you would not. Mangoes are so delicious. They are sweet, nutritious, and they are packed with so many nutrients. They are, indeed, very refreshing.
When you visit the grocery store, do not forget to get yourself a couple of fruits. Whatever fruit that you enjoy eating, buy them. Apples, strawberries, mangoes, oranges, bananas, et cetera–purchase them but do not go overboard. Buy what you think you can consume.
When you reach home, chill some of the fruits that you are ready to eat. Do not store them all in the refrigerator. Some fruits are better kept on the countertop instead of the ref. Only chill those that you are going to consume. When they are cooler, they taste so much better.
What you can also do is freeze the fruits. Store them inside a plastic container (or Zip Lock) and let them freeze. Since fruits change color after being cut or sliced, you might want to add an anti-darkening agent.
Use a mixture of water and bottled lemon juice. Use about 1 tsp per quart. You may also add sugar to help retain its natural color. The sugar will also help enhance the taste. Pour a mixture of water and sugar into the fruits and seal it.
You can use the frozen fruit for your shakes. You do not have to add a lot of ice into the mixture because the frozen fruit will turn into a slush. You may also add the frozen fruit to your daily protein shake. This is a healthy snack or drink compared to sodas and chips.
Remember to eat your fruits before they spoil. You do not want to throw your money away by not consuming the produce that you bought. There are so many benefits of eating fruits and if you have become bored of the traditional way of eating it, (slice and consume), then it is best to cool it or add them to your protein shake.
